The Indian International School, DSO Campus, does understand that Examination time is ‘nerve wreaking’ for students. With the advent of the Board Examination, this reached a ‘crescendo’. We launched a novel campaign to mitigate the stress levels in our students: ‘R.I.S.E.’ - Rejuvenate ‘Ur’ Inner Strength & Excel. Support was extended in various forms with the school faculty and support staff joining hands in this holistic well-being campaign. A Calm Mind is a Powerful Mind.

As the clock marched ahead to the final hour ushering in the exam, which set their heartbeats racing, they were greeted on the campus with confidence building and stress mitigating initiatives, which continued till they reach the Exam Centre, such as:

A) On School Campus

Spiritual Connect: Multifaith prayer arrangements were made for students to connect spiritually with the presence of ‘Priests from all Faiths’ around, to bless them.

Pat a Pet: Imagine students being able to Pat their favourite Pet before the exams. We made arrangements to have ‘safe pets’ at school for our students who would love to give a quick pat and embrace their favourite pet thereby easing their stress.

Happiness recipe through Art Therapy: Happiness Emojis and Happiness Stamps were designed by students to help boost their happiness and concentration. Well-Being stimulating Ambience: These activities were held in a ‘soothing colourful lounge’ with a welcoming unregimented ambience, to promote serenity, a feeling of celebration, and a riot of colours, to make them feel relaxed.

‘Don’t Shy Away’: ‘Confidence Booster Stations’ were designed for students, to practice those talents/skills they are not confident to showcase. This helped them to overcome their anxiety & excel.

Zumba Fitness, ‘Fitness Groove with a Crazy Move’: Exercise is the best-known stress buster. We employed a few sessions of physical activities and some elements of fun in the morning hours to make the students feel rejuvenated, forget all about their apprehensions, and instil confidence and enthusiasm into them.

Student Well-Being Support: Members of the well-being team (Members of the Wellness Circle, Supervisors and Teachers) were available for student counselling, and students appeared for Board exams.

B) Bus journey to the Exam Centre

MIC - Meditation and Inner Connect: During the journey from the school to the examination centre (where hearts again start to race), students engaged in a quick meditation therapy that helped them connect with their inner self and acted as an antidote to stress.

C) Return bus journey from the Exam Centre

Soothing Music welcomed them back from exams to help them relax and temper down the remnants of exam stress.

A dedicated hand-picked team took charge of the above activities, and we are sure it has had a bearing on our student’s collectedness, and it acted as performance boosters during the Board Exams.

Studying is not always fun or easy, so praise one’s children when they are working hard. Encourage rather than threaten, as kids don’t need more stress along with the exam pressure. If they do get stressed, try to respond to their emotions by listening, reassuring them, or hugging them. Once they’ve calmed down, you can deal with practical solutions, such as setting up a revision timetable or getting the necessary help they might need. Best Wishes to All Our Students!
